KUNAKIN® Soy Protein Concentrate

KUNAKIN® is a new supplement containing soy protein concentrate from natural, non-genetically modified organisms (non-GMO) and whole grape product.

Studies have shown that when combined with a healthy diet pattern, soy protein supplementation may reduce LDL cholesterol by 30%, similar to the effect of statins, as well as reductions in inflammatory effects of chronic diseases, including the improvement of insulin resistance, and may result in a better resolution of the metabolic syndrome.1

Medical scientific studies in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM2) have shown that the intake of soy products was associated with a significant reduction in serum lipids like total serum cholesterol, triacylglycerol and LDL, and a significant increase in HDL (good) cholesterol.2

In another medical publications in pre-dialysis patients with chronic kidney disease, soy protein consumption showed a protection of serum creatinine and serum phosphorus concentrations.3 In a recent clinical trial conducted by RAAS Nutritionals, 64% of 22 patients supplemented with soy protein concentrate and grape product capsules showed an improvement of their kidney function (eGFR improved in 9 mL/min after 90 days of treatment).4

KUNAKIN® also includes all the components of the grape. In experimental studies, it has been shown that proanthocyanidins contained in grape seeds inhibited some cell lines of cancer like human leukemia, melanoma, lung carcinoma and colon carcinoma, although no human experiments exist yet.5 On the other hand, polyphenols found in the skin of grapes worked in other cell lines or models, like lung carcinoma (mice), human epidermoid carcinoma, apoptosis in human lymphoma and gastric cancer.5 Chen demonstrated that grape seed extract attenuates Hepatitis C virus replication and virus-induced inflammation.6

Some people, particularly children, may present soy allergy which is a type of food allergy. It is usually treated with an exclusion diet and vigilant avoidance of foods that may be contaminated with soy ingredients. Soy can cause some mild side effects such as constipation, bloating, and nausea. There's no evidence that people who have hypothyroidism should avoid soy completely.
